The Wildhearts are set to release their eponymous album on the 23rd April. Released on Round Records and featuring Ginger, CJ, Ritch Battersby and Scott Sorry, it promises to be a riff-stormer of a record. The album will be preceded by a download only single: 'The Sweetest Song', released on the 9th April, which will be available from the following iTunes link (and others which will be posted as we get them)
In Ginger's words "We are really proud of this album. It marks what honestly feels like a fresh start in what has been an up-and-down career for the band. Gone are the drugs and alcohol problems. There is a focus and determined spirit in the band now, which we think we have captured perfectly on this album. The melodies are still there, the big choruses are still there, but the mammoth guitar riffs are back and heavier than ever. We're excited to have you along for this fresh new stage in the on-going legacy that is The Wildhearts."
The tracklist is as follows:
- Rooting For The Bad Guy
- The Sweetest Song
- The Revolution Will Be Televised
- The New Flesh
- Slaughtered Authors
- The Hard Way
- Inner City Overture
- Bi Polar Baby
- She's All That
- Destroy All Monsters
Please can everyone vote for Julia Westwood's Yoni artwork in the Saatchi Gallery showdown.
Says Ginger: "If we can spread the word far and wide then we can get Yoni in the Saatchi gallery. She's great and she deserves your support."
Due to popular demand the Glasgow show on the Wildhearts tour has been upgraded to the Garage. All original tickets are valid for the upgrade.
OFFICIAL STATEMENT CONCERNING THE WILDHEARTS
We have been informed this morning by the American Embassy, and our American Representative who was acting on behalf of the Wildhearts Visa application in the US, that The Wildhearts Visas will not be ready in time for the tour.
Despite being told differently, it appears that errors were made by our nominated American representative, which caused unnecessary delays and problems with the American Embassy. The Wildhearts and their management were never informed of this and we were assured that they would arrive in time for their flight to New York tomorrow (Thursday 8th March).
The Wildhearts are distraught at being forced to cancel these shows, but have been given no alternative as flying with out Visas would seriously jeopardise all future plans in the USA for the band.
The Wildhearts will endeavour to make it up to every fan who has bought a ticket, and promise to release rescheduled US dates in 2007 as soon as possible.
OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE BAND.
We are absolutely gutted about this. SXSW was to be the perfect showcase for the new line-up, and we were incredibly excited to let the US fans see the new line-up with the shows added around the SXSW date. We are aware that this will not help our reputation for pulling shows in the US, but we tried everything within our power to acquire the correct work visas for this tour and we regret to inform you that they did not arrive in time.
We cannot jeopardise our future visits in US by travelling without the correct legal documents needed. We will reschedule the dates in NY and honour the tickets already sold. Once again, we apologise for this cancellation.
Please keep the faith. 2007 will be a great year for the band. This is just an unfortunate set back, albeit a severely disappointing one.
The Wildhearts.

Ginger has asked us to pass on a warning about a re-release of Landmines and Pantomimes, a compilation of rarities originally released on Kuro Neko records and which the band had no input to. The new release is in a DVD-sized cardboard sleeve and is on the Mischief Music label (cat no. MM101). It features the artwork of the late Danny Deen and Ginger has asked people not to buy this new release as it is illegal. We are still trying to find further details about Mischief Music - if anyone has any contact details or further information, please let us know. Thanks.
An exclusive new song 'Black Windows' from Ginger's forthcoming album Yoni is now on MySpace. Says Ginger: "It's unmastered right now, but I couldn't wait for everyone to hear new drummer Denzel tearing the living shit out of his drum kit. Check this guy out, he's sick.
Please let the world know, and tell them all to tell someone else!"
