Help Us Decide The Setlist!

By Scott | September 2, 2009

Alright ladies and gents, the guys and I have a debate that needs to be settled and we need YOU to help us. For the upcoming tour this September, should we….

A. Play Chutzpah! in its entirety alongside a handful of best of’s and old classics
or
B. Play a set full of old classics and best of’s with a few choice cuts from Chutzpah! thrown in

Rehearsals are right around the corner and we need to figure out what the hell we’re doing so let us know your thoughts.

Cheers.
Scotty

    A please guys. Cannot wait.

First, whatever you do. PLAY ANTHEM! PLAY ANTHEM! PLAY ANTHEM!

Ok, that out of the way. Hmmmm it’s a tough choice.

I was really pleased in the last tour where you finished with Destroy All Monsters instead of Love U Till I Dont. Variety be the spice of life!

As Chutzpah is short then yeah, B, play it all. The other half of the gig please be mostly unusuals, like Hate The World Day! Pick just two or three stone cold classics to play, and fill the rest of the set with unusuals.

    That’s what I think.

But don’t forget, whatever you do, PLAY ANTHEM!

No point releasing a new album if you ain’t going to play much off it. I was always bumed that you played fuck all off the previous album. Play Chutzpah

I’d go for option C… most of Chutzpah but not in order as it’s always nice to guess what song’s coming next! All mixed up a bit with about 4 classics and the rest of the set rarities such as Girlfriend Clothes, Hate the World Day, Inglorious etc.

    See you in Manchester!!!

    September 10th, 2009 at 13:58

Oh and play Nurse Maximum too!

When i first read this i instantly thought option B but now im listening to the album for the ….”lost count” time, play Chutzpah!! It would be amazing to see the whole thing live and the album is short so you can still play all the songs we love!…Oh and dont forget to throw in a couple that you haven’t played in years! They are always amazing no matter what songs they are.

    See you in Glasgow!

OPTION A! Hasn’t been out of my walkman since it went in and it’s not coming out! Show A Little Emotion or Two Way Idiot Mirror tooooooooo pleeeeease! 🙂

This is so hard…despite following the band since the early nineties, I never tire of hearing any of the back catalogue, so it’s tempting for to go for the ‘best of’ option cos it’s so great to see the classics live. However, you guys have totally and utterly blown me away with Chutzpah – it is so fantastic, and has so many different elements – seeing it all live would be a pretty special experience. So option B for me!

    September 10th, 2009 at 20:44

Option C – play a lot of new stuff, but mix it up with some oldies!! Playing through the whole album makes it way too predictable. You need the excitement of not knowing what songs are coming next.

  12. pjt Says:
    September 10th, 2009 at 21:43

Please don’t just play “classsics”, I love those songs but I have been hearing them since I was 15 (I’m fricking 30). Play the new album, B-sides, whatever you need to keep it interesting for yourselves, very few from from earth versus required for me.

  13. Cwej Says:
    September 10th, 2009 at 22:08

by all means play the whole album , but not in order , one after another . change it round , break it up with a bit of what you fancy . album dynamics and live dynamics just ain’t the same .

like you need me to tell you that 😛 hell , you’re the wildhearts , you could play a set of terrorvision songs and it would still be the wildhearts . go with what feels good to you . no-one wants to see a band not feeling good . everyone wants to see the band feeling good . it maketh everyone feel good .

except the non-fans who only come to barge down the front at the end for ‘ i wanna go ‘ and would complain about not knowing the songs even if it was a classics set

This Is a toughie, been into the ‘hearts for a long long time, ever since “Don’t be happy…….” infact, There are lots of instant classics on the new album but I’m not sure about playing all of it in one go from start to finish.

I’m comong up from sunny South Wales for the Rock City gig on the 19th and the perfect set list for me (presuming you guys will play for this long) would be:

    1: The Jackson Whites
    2: Plastic Jebus
    3: Nexus Icon
4: You Are Proof that not all Women…..etc
5: The Revolution Will Be Televised
    6: Everlone
    7: Tim Smith
    8: Low Energy Vortex
    9: Greetings From Shitsville
    10: Nina Nitro
    11: So Into You
12: You Took The Sunshine From New York
    13: Mazel Tov Cocktail
    14: TV Tan
15: Rooting For The Bad Guy
16/17: My Baby is a Headfuck straight into Suckerpunch just like on the album
    18: Loveshit
19: I Wanna Go Where the People go
    20: Vanilla Radio

    Encores:

    Caffine Bomb
    Chutzpah

Christ that was soooo difficult, there’s loads more I would like to add, I don’t envy you guys having to choose your set list

See you at Rock City 🙂

can I just add, the first time I saw you, you were supoprting The Almighty with Kerbdog (’92??) Have seen you every tour and never disappointed. My mates have a joke that I’ve either just been to see The ‘hearts, have just booked tix to see The ‘Hearts or am going next week. So obsessive or not always a pleasure. Can we also have Channel Bop.

  19. Warren Neill Says:
    September 11th, 2009 at 14:40

I’ll be at Manc so it would be whole of Chutzpah! in order and other songs to include, Rooting for the Bad Guy, Channel Bop, Unbreakable and the whole of Endless Nameless to finish…then play Jackson Whites again. How fucking good would that be. Good luck lads, cracking album and how many other bands can remain just as important after all these years, apart from Rush!!!!!!

  23. Gavin J Says:
    September 12th, 2009 at 12:29

Option B. Chutzpah! is superb but as you don’t play Manchester every other week I’d rather hear stuff from the back catalogue too. Drag up some oldies for us to enjoy. OR….. Play Buxton one week then Manchester the next week for a couples of months and run through the WHOLE back catalogue inc. Honeycrack, SG5, etc etc 🙂

  24. Gary Wildheart Says:
    September 12th, 2009 at 14:40

It has to be the whole of the Japanese CHUTZPAH! for me. It would be a great laugh if you started with Chutzpah JNR. And All That Zen is a cracking tune as well. 😉

I’d love the whole of Chutzpah, with a load of favourites. Sky babies, anyone?

  27. Pete Says:

    ‘Chutzpah!’, please…

…followed by a set of album tracks and B-sides. Your fanbase know the back-catalogue so there’s no need for yet another biggest (s)hits set. Please banish into obscurity the awful ‘I Wanna Go Where The People Go’ and ‘Sick Of Drugs’, and give ‘…Headfuck’ a much-needed rest.

There’s no reason for either band or audience members to be bored at a Wildhearts gig. You have a wonderful and extensive canon of music. Let’s explore it together.
