Wildhearts' former bands from yesteryear

Postby Benny Hiroshima » 21st Feb 13, 18:05

Here's a few lost er "gems" (ahem) I've found on YouTube which feature current or past Wildheart members.

Danny McCormack
Energetic Krusher - (untitled song)

Can't Watch This?

(Danny was in a thrash band? Bizarro!)

CJ
Tatooed Love Boys - Stale Lipstick

Can't Watch This?

(Check out the hilariously bad dance routine!)

Ginger
Quireboys - Mayfair

Can't Watch This?

(thank f**k Ginger got kicked out of that band. They were incredibly sh*t. This promo and song makes me wince. And having seen early interviews with Spike, he has about as much charm as a dog shit sandwich)

Ritch Battersby
Radio Moscow - Blind Man's Eyes

Can't Watch This?

(A youthful looking Battersby thumping the drums is the only good thing about this horrid and trudging song. Lyrically it's worse than when Biff Byford tried to write about politics via JKF's shooting).

Devin Towsend
Vai - Still My Bleeding Heart

Can't Watch This?

(Nooooo. Never. Ever. Wear. Shorts. On Stage.)

Scott Sorry
Amen - California's Bleeding

Can't Watch This?

(Not a bad tune, if you can this a tune. But their "singer" - Mr Chaos as his gas bill probably says - looks a little bit like the bastard offspring of Chris from Family Guy and a Furby.)

Stidi
Whatever - Hooked On Monday

Can't Watch This?

(Meh........)

Snake (original Wild Hearts vocalist)
Tobruk - Breakdown

Can't Watch This?

(I don't like to speak ill of the dead. But if Snake were alive, I'd say: "Man that Tobruk band you were in were a bit Spinal Tap.)

Dunken F Mullet (another early Wild Hearts vocalist)
Mournblade - If You Can't Be Good

Can't Watch This?

(Meh. Part II)

Can't Watch This?

Worth adding some early Bam action. Danny (and Rich Jones) have been in the Dogs in the past. Lots of connections.

Negative thread FTW!

dont they luk silly cos they videos r old lol

Hooked on Monday is a belter, actually. I'm all for heatlthy subjectivity, but I can't help thinking you only wrote "meh" because you couldn't actually think of anything bad to say about it.

Aye, you're probably right it is a negative thread: but then you can't polish a turd, so they say.

There's loads of Wildhearts related projects/bands that I love and are absolute quality.

But then there are some which were absolute shite too.

And given the amount of tumbleweed kicking around these 'ere forum I was kinda hoping that this 'ere thread would stimulate a bit of debate and blow the cobwebs out a little.

I wrote Meh with regard to Hooked on Monday, because its all round dullness prompted nothing but apathy from me. The chorus is wonky and the lyrics were toss. (Incidentally I did like Stidi's drumming on it though, a vastly underated drummer in my opinion.)

Aaaaaand finally: While I absolutely hate most of these songs mentioned in this thread, it's a credit to Wildhearts' members how they progressed and developed as musicians. If the Quireboys, Radio Moscow et al had been blindingly good (like The Wildhearts have been and still are) then there would have been no Wildhearts.
