Anyone off hand know how many songs the Yo Yos have recorded *outwith* these on the ''Uppers and Downers''/''Given up giving up'' records......(B sides etc....)?

Cheers

I dont think any other songs were recorded around the "Given Up Giving Up" time so apart from the two albums your just looking at B Sides from Upers & Downers. I may not be 100% correct here but i think the singles were Time Of Your Life, Rumbled & Sunshine Girl so thats probably an extra 6 songs out there besides the albums. Having said that i do remember hearing an alternative version of "Out Of My Mind" so thats probably one of the B Sides.

You're right about the Given Up sessions. That was all recorded and mixed in 2 or 3 days (which shows *cough*) so there was no time for b-sides etc.

That said, I have just been given a CD of the unmastered rough mixes of that record which I seem to remember sounding a LOT better than the final product. If this is indeed the case I might stick 'em online somewhere for people to check out

That's from the original 'Out of My Mind' single, before it was re-recorded for the album. Rawer and more angry...

I just so happen to have a b-sides collection I made on me today, here's what wasn't on the album. Some of these I ripped/tidied up from vinyl-only releases:

Hey Tonight
Rock City
Got It Good Got It Bad
Back To Feeling Fine
Seven Shades Of Blue
5 x Saturday Night
Stockholm Sick Blues
I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend/Get On Your Knees

I also got from somewhere Brand New Bag Of Smack/Keepin' On Keepin' On (live)

Along with early single releases of:

You Got Me Out Of My Mind
1000 Miles Away From Here
Home From Home
Too Lazy To Bleed

I suspect Bag Of Smack is from Winchester. (Rich did this song ever get recorded?)

Are there any really good quality live bootlegs out there? I've heard a few slightly fuzzy ones and it would be shame if there wasn't

Nope, the Brand New Cadillac/Bag Of Smack thing was just something we did fora bit of fun. There's no proper recordings of it.

I have a real good Yo-Yo's bootleg from Bowery Ballroom in NYC somewhere. Recorded on the Backyard Babies tour so I'm thinking it's probably from '99 or 2000. I'll dig it out.

T'was also the Infernal Records compilation version over Head Over Heels, which was ace if not let down by the slightly rubbish mastering.

Anyone ever get their grubby mitts on The Chasers CD? Never heard any of the tracks and now canny find for goldust.

Yeah, I've got the chasers cd......was pretty rough sounding, but good nonetheless. Can put it up on rapidshare or something if you like (sure i'm not breaking any board rules here; is long out of print)

It's still in copyright though, so it's still a no-no unless you can get permission from whoever holds it. Sorry.
