Earth vs The Wildhearts – 20th Anniversary Shows – UPDATED

By Kris | January 1, 2013

After a 3 year hiatus, The Wildhearts (Ginger, CJ, Jon Poole & Ritch Battersby) made their explosive live return in front of a sold-out crowd at The Forum in London, on December 17th 2012.

In April 2013, The Wildhearts will once again take to the stage, when they perform their classic debut album “Earth vs” at four special shows. The album was voted the number 1 album of the year by Kerrang! Magazine in 1993.

The show will be broken into two halves – the first will see “Earth vs” performed in full, and the second half will allow the audience each night to help choose the songs they want to hear.

The dates are:
April 4th – Glasgow, ABC
April 5th – Manchester, Academy 1
April 6th – Nottingham, Rockcity
April 7th – Wolverhampton, Wulfrun Hall

Tickets go on sale at 9am on the 7th January 2013 from all major ticket outlets.

UPDATE: Due to overwhelming demand, the Manchester show has been upgraded to Academy 1. All original tickets remain valid.

Everyone normally has to trek down to London for the birthday gig, so I guess this is payback time for those of us in the south (myself included)

Everywhere is a long way from Cornwall. I’m used to travelling to see bands and I’m definitely heading up country again for this!

Think yourselves lucky you’re getting gigs. It would be an 8,000 mile round trip if I went to one of them. Stop moaning.

From Gav, posted on the All Things Wildhearts facebook group:

    A few quick answers..

London – not happening at this point. We were there 2 weeks ago for a sold out show and felt it would be too soon to return. However, Ginger will be supporting the Darkness at Hammersmith in March (That show is going to rule). You do also get the Birthday show every year and pretty much every one off Ginger does! You are our spoilt child London and you need to let the other towns have a go.

You’re not playing “insert town” – currently the band have signed on to do 4 shows, so not surprisingly we are not doing most towns in the UK.

Will you add more shows? – No plans at this moment. If it does well, there is a slim possibility of a second leg later in the year, but this is just vague talk right now. Ultimately demand will dictate, and we’ll find out what the demand is like next week.

Just to reiterate – we have no other shows penciled or confirmed with venues. Currently the only venues confirmed and locked in that will definitely happen, are the 4 that are announced.

So glad that they’re not just doing London. Spent a fortune in the past years on travelling. Thank you. Any chance Danny would make an appearance? (Nothing at all against Jon) Even just for a song? That would make the evening even more special.
    See you in Nottingham.

Hope to see a new album from you guys even if its short! I’d love new wildheart songs and I’d buy them in a heartbeat. Good to see the boys playing again.

WHY AREN’T YOU PLAYING [INSERT TOWN]???

For everyone who’s asking that question, it’s been repeatedly stated that the band cannot do ANYTHING about whether promoters book them or not. I can’t be the only one tired of reading the same old questions every time there is a live date announced?

If you’re pissed off by a no-show in your town, then go annoy your local venues until they listen, rather than bitch to the last people on earth who can do anything to change the situation. Thanks.

Oh, and for the record, I’m flying from Spain especially for the gigs, so have absolutely no sympathy for those complaining about travel 🙂
