Walking around the cobbled streets of Bristol, twisting alleyways alive with Victorian memory and impregnated with vivid history, one can’t help but feel a sense of pride for the architecture that our strange little country boasts. The excited chatter of visiting tourists pepper every exquisitely ornate gateway and cul de sac. And as I marvel at my own heritage I can’t help but think that Bristol, as picturesque as it plainly is, has a serious challenge in the shape of last night’s Brighton crowd. Will the Bristol massive stand up to Brighton’s awesome welcome?

Well, it has to be said that Bristol were more than up for the challenge. As the uproarious cheer urged us into the album set the very vocal Bristolians showed their wonderful support in in voluminous fashion. And the show was amazing.

The sense of the performance turning into a party by the end of the evening was tangible. By the second set we were neck deep in the celebratory atmosphere of the 02 Academy and feeling no pain. And by the end the dressing room was alive with the boozy pats on backs of the band that continued onto the bus where we enjoyed the first collective listen of our new album.

It was a religious experience.

Today we play Nottingham Rock City, a venue that has traditionally stood up to any audience on the UK rock circuit. It’s going to be a devastatingly awesome show today, but Bristol will not be easy to match.

We got website of the week in The Sun yesterday. Sweet.

Man, this merch is awesome. I’m in love with my football shirt.

So hi to you all... Been a crazy couple of weeks with Sonisphere, the Kerrang! awards and then our small trip to Germany.

Sonisphere was a strange one. We turned up around 5 pm and had a full 6 hours of press, which is good but when you're on stage at 12.15AM not the best of plans. Anyway we all managed to stay up and the show was a little strange. We tried out some new amps and they did not quite work according to plan, hence our major sound problems. Next time we will try out new gear in rehearsals and not at a major festival. Problems aside I really enjoyed the gig and the tent seemed to be rocking.

So hi to you all… Been a crazy couple of weeks with Sonisphere, the Kerrang! awards and then our small trip to Germany.

Sonisphere was a strange one. We turned up around 5 pm and had a full 6 hours of press, which is good but when you’re on stage at 12.15AM not the best of plans.

Next up was the Kerrang! awards and they were a hoot. It’s always nice when we get invited anywhere and to win an award was very cool. It was a good night and catching up with old friends is always great, I did not party all night but I know various members of the band did not get to bed till 6AM… fools.

Well after the awards we had to fly to Cologne and seeing Scott at the airport my plan not to go crazy at the awards payed off, he was a in a right state and in need of some sleep. After a short flight to Germany we made it to our gig only to find out that Buckcherry had to cancel as their singer was ill. We got bumped up to headline and had an amazing show, our first headliner in Germany. On the bus feeling victorious we settled in to our 7 hour drive to Berlin.

Berlin was cool and although the gig had been cancelled we got to go to the Ramones museum and did a bunch of German press. Berlin is a great city and I’m looking forward to playing our own shows there. And the food is good.

Well I’m home now in London knee deep in pizza dough and sauce as I’m cooking for 6 tonight. Hey if you’re very lucky I may post a recipe for the best pizza this side of NYC… Let me know and I will stick it up.

Well that’s all folks… be good and take care… CJ

The Wildhearts last night received the Spirit of Independence accolade at the Kerrang! Awards in London.
Speaking of his heartfelt gratitude for the award, Ginger said; “This is the award that really means something. Keeping music independent has always been really important for us as musicians and as fans of music, and never has this support been needed more than right now. The music industry is finally crumbling under the weight of its own self importance, but music has been suffering for years because of major labels, and because musicians are often afraid to go it alone. Do it yourself, it’s much easier than you think. And
thank you, Kerrang!, for supporting independent music.”

CJ added; “I feel like I’ve grown up in the pages of Kerrang! and so this feels very cool. And about time too.!”
