MAY TOUR - STREET TEAM HELP REQUEST

Postby Ean » 12th Mar 09, 21:58

Hi,

A message from Ginger for help to get involved in street-teaming and helping however you can to promote the forthcoming solo tour - please post your thoughts, ideas and offers of help in this thread

I'd like to establish some groups of people who can help us promote the forthcoming May solo tour by using their imagination. I know our supporters are largely a smart bunch, so it would be a lot of fun to see what cool ideas you could come up with to get the tour promoted and advertised.

We will provide a link where people can download a poster to give to record/music stores and venues in their area, with the nice big space on the design in which to write the nearest venue details.

If there are any other cool ideas that anyone has about how to spread the word about this tour then I would LOVE to hear them all.

People can digitally help from the comfort of their living room, bringing great new ways to promote the shows on the web. While others can take advantage of their crazed social lives by getting the poster stuck in as many shops, bars and clubs as they can.

All help is greatly needed and massively appreciated.

We'll find a super cool way of making it worth your while, whoever you are.

Thanks, in advance, to everyone who will lend a hand in making this tour a success.

Gx

You'll find the all important dates in this thread.

Print off the poster, nip into a music store like HMV and stick a poster in every single music/film magazine they have on sale. Just make sure your not caught.
Being a Wildhearts fan rocks.

Backyard Babies are touring a month before these dates. As there seems to be a good crossover with fans of the WH and the Babies, flyering people at their gigs could be worth a go!

seriously though......i imagine that there are punters like me who....apart from the obvious ginger interest.....go out of their way to see certain musicians perform.....so as much detail on the posters about band members should help fill up venues......im sure people will be as eagre to see the newcomers as much as the core band members

I'll help wherever I can.
I can start by getting the tour dates up on Last.fm, this also makes them show up in Google searches and will recommend them to fans of similar music who use Last.fm to see what's on.

Edit: 'tis done now: http://www.last.fm/music/Ginger/+events
What next?
New Eureka Machines dates up now, see http://www.eurekamachines.com/gigs.htm for info.

Helping promote the tour

Postby Thunarr » 13th Mar 09, 23:15

I produce and present a weekly Rock and Metal podcast (some of you may have heard it - The Wyrd Ways Rock Show http://wyrdways.podomatic.com). Plays to over 1000 people every week. I'll make sure I mention the tour a few times.

If you're reading this, Ginger, any chance of an interview for the show before you go on or after you come offstage at Rios?

I am based in Loughborough, Leicestershire and am happy to get together with other board members in Notts, Sheffield and maybe even York & Leeds for flyering outside rock nights in the cities - Thinking meet in pub - drink - do flyering and promoting - drink - socialise then go homeward, in the weeks leading up to the shows..... I work on th erailway so can get places for free let me know if anyone in any of the cities / locations mentioned fancy sorting something out to try and sort out mutually workable times

another idea - amongst you guys and gals surely someone somewhere works in either a w h smiths or your local newsagents or even one of the supermarket chains where they have magazines and newspapers- sticking flyers in all the copies of kerrang, metal hammer, classic rock, q, mojo, NME etc etc so all music fans have the dates and venues drilled into their heads

some great ideas there Rich.

Now here is a one for you.
Approach you managers and say you have an major rock act who would like to play a small gig on one of their trains to promote his upcoming tour. Just think of the publicity for Ginger and for you and your company.

I wonder in all seriousness if Ginger would be up for this.
