What came first writing 'Nita Nitro', that riff played over the drum bit at the start, or the melody for the vocal 'NEEEE NITA NITRO' part? Which I'm fairly sure are the same thing.>>
The chorus actually came first, which originally had completely different lyrics. I figured it was the speed in which the audience can jump up and down so I wrote a 'jumpy' riff for the intro.

I've never watched the programme, so I wouldn't know until someone told me, then I'd be quite chuffed, I guess.

Ginger -

Thanks for your time>>
I got some cheap, Strat copy type thing for Xmas. Can't say I really fell in love with it. I kinda knew it was a piece of crap

Hope it's not too personal to ask, but if it isn't, what's your favourite memory of knowing the late, great CAPS-LOCK CRACK-ROCK C-C-C-C-CURSING COLOSSUS Steven Wells?
I adored his NME writing (both rockier'N'rollier than 90% of the nursing-home indie-crock youthanasic muzaKKK he was forced to cover) and used to wonder what he'd think of The Wildhearts.
Suffice to say, the day he wrote in that beautiful tour glossy that The Wildhearts were the 'greatest rock'n'roll band the Universe has ever seen', and were up there with Hendrix, was one of the few times in my life that the great celestial cogs of the universe ever felt like were they humming smoothly in perfect meta-musical harmony with each other.
And he would've adored Chutzpah. >>
Swells was, and will always be, one of my absolute favourite people. His political position with the world was almost identical to mine. I love a smart socialist with a punk rock heart.

Hi again, was just wondering what (if anything) you thought of the following arteests? (And apologies for the following sneaky quintuple question).
Tom Waits?
Bob Dylan? (Aware you never used to listen to him much but I'm prompted to ask cos of you talking about Girl From The North Country recently. Plus the noticed similarity between Subterranean Homesick Blues and Caffeine Bomb turned one of my Uni pals onto liking you a decade ago and turned me onto loving Dylan).
Emmylou Harris? ( 'I Will Dream' from Stumble Into Grace may be the most beautiful song ever written, I think).
Mojo Nixon?
Lady Gaga? (for my funds, if you can piss off one third of the hearing world, confuse the second third and zombifically entrance the last third with hooks built out of weapons-grade audial heroin, then you're a proper fuckin pop star.
Hey, that sounds a little like how your music hooked me. ).>>
I love Tom Waits. I like Bob Bylan songs when covered by other people. I'm IN love with Emmylou. Never heard Mojo Nixon. Still not getting Lady Gaga but definitely find her fascinating.

Would you consider using the Chutzpah downtuned guitar sound on future solo or WH releases? And what is the likelihood of recording with Jacob Hansen again?
It's just that from my experiences of playing Chutzpah to people, most folk with more 'mainstream' tastes in rock seem to prefer that style of guitar sound to the chunkier, more metallic sound of your other work. So just wondering what you thought about it, thanks.>>
I LOVE detuned guitars, they make sonic magic. I will always revisit that sound in the studio.
I'd love to work with Jacob again. He's amazing.
