29 x the pain

Postby lost johnny » 26th Mar 11, 19:34

I'm new, so forgive me if this has been done before, but my favourite tune is 29 x the pain, and in the odd idle moment I've often wondered if there's anyone out there who's seen all of the bands listed in the song? Here's my tally:

The Replacements
Husker Du,
Ramones
Clash
Jason and the Scorchers
Kiss
The Damned
S.L.F.
B.O.C.

Assuming I've picked up all the references mind...

Wicked man, thanx. Just makes me wish the band were on the road and heading my way. Still, there's an acoustic show in Cardiff and the birthday gig, so not too shabby after all.

I haven't seen any of the bands mentioned in the song live..EDIT - oops forgot I have seen the Rolling Stones. Some of them I don't even know any songs by eg Starz or B.O.C, or if I do then I didn't realise it was them.

I don't think there is a Twisted Sister reference in the song from what I remember regarding this being discussed before, the line being - "'cause with sounds that twist and curl(s)"

Quite disgusted with myself that although I have albums by most of these I've only seen Jason & The Scorchers and The Ramones live.

That's not too shabby mind - both excellent bands [RIP da Brudders of course].

If you're talkin geeky, does the Rebel Without a Clue reference refer to Bonnie Tyler or Tom Petty..?

I can manage:

Sex Pistols
Cheap Trick
Jason And The Scorchers (minus the Jason bit)
Kiss

And the Manics (as long as any Manics counts?).

From the man himself:

So, er, now we know. :?

Looks like Lost Jonny is the winner so far, wonder if anyone here has seen the Beatles... I know someone who has, they said it was a waste of time, all they could hear was girls screaming.

That seems to have largely been the opinion of the band members too.

I'm pretty glad it's not a Twisted Sister reference.
