PHUQ & Endless Nameless re-released?

Postby Urza » 9th Aug 10, 14:00

According to Amazon, Endless Nameless is getting a re-release later in the year. There's been absolutely no news about this from the band itself as far as I'm aware - is this just the record companies' re-releasing the albums to rake in some more cash?

Does anyone know any more about these two re-releases, and if the other albums are due to follow? It seems that both PHUQ & Endless Nameless come with a second CD conatining all the B-Sides from the singles released alongside each album's original release.

unless it's remastered, i don't think i'll bother with the PHUQ re-release, as i've got all of those tracks between the japanese best of and a few singles i picked up, but i'll definitely get the EN one, as i never did manage to get "anthem - single tracks" which is more or less what the second disc is...

I wonder if that product description on the EN cd set is written by Amazon or the record label it seems rather glowing, I assume its the record label.

I'll probably buy EN as it's got He's a Whore and Lost Highway on cd which i only have on vinyl and atm i have no vinyl player.
Seems such a shame but it kept us entertained

It's a real shame that there is nothing previously unreleased (even if it was just a few demos) on these as they would have sold a lot more copies. As it is I have no reason to buy them as I have all the tracks already :hmmm:

I'd kill to hear the P.H.U.L.L record. I think it's a better time than any.

Taken from Amazon review. -

This 2CD collection contains all the b-sides from the era and the booklet contains notes by Classic Rock's Dave Ling and features extensive artwork with photos and memorabilia from the era, all approved by Ginger himself.

looks like they're listed as 2-disc sets, but no tracklists up yet...

and again, does anyone know if any of these new re-releases are remastered or remixed in any way? as that's really the only way i'd be willing to buy any of them (other than EN whose b-sides i need).

looking at Play.com FFL and Earth... are 2CD sets. Funny as Earth Vs has the whole of Mondo album on cd 2.
I will buy the one of the albums to see what the booklet is like and also to see if they are remastered well.

Do they need remastering then? I've never bought a remastered album to know what difference it makes. I can imagine on older albums it must improve them but The Wildhearts' albums all sound fine don't they?

Personally I don't thing many Wildhearts albums need anything changed to the mixing. P.H.U.Q. is a perfect example of a big sounding album. Same with Endless Nameless.
But CD has its imperfections and new technology can sometimes make the CD sound better with re-mastering. I am not sure if mastering is done for MP3 these days but if it was it again may help the sound.
And much of the time many people buy albums that are re released due to the sticker saying re mastered.
