Round Records' "The Haiti Project"

Postby JasonH » 25th Jan 10, 02:10

A download only charity compilation launches today to raise money for the relief efforts following the Earthquake in Haiti.

A message fromGav, who's behind it:

Upon arriving back in the UK last week at Heathrow (and being a little too wrapped up in seemingly important things like whether the plane would land in the snow or if my train would be running) I was immediately greeted and numbed by the horrific and shocking news reports that followed after the Haiti Earthquake. As the magnitude of the disaster continues to grow by the day, I was very keen (like most people) to do 'something'.

Thus
The Haiti Project - a charity download album - was born. Within a few days of sending emails and calls to my nearest and dearest friends an album quite literally 'came together'.

The album is spearheaded by the anthemic debut track from
The Sonic Graffiti, a new band from LA put together by Ginger, Billy Morrison, Michael Butler & Scott Lipps. The track entitled 'Mystery Number' was recorded at Matt Sorum's studio in August 2009 & was produced by the legendary Mike Clink.

I'd like to personally say a big thankyou to Ginger, Billy, Michael, Scott & Mike for donating this exclusive track, and allowing
The Haiti Project to (hopefully) raise even more money.

As soon as we do, I would love for everyone to spread word around the internet world via their twitterings, facebookings, myspacings, bloggings and other 'ings'. Lets raise some money.

16 songs for £5!? Oh Yes!

sounds like a wonderful idea, and a great looking track list too, now if we can get every fan of the bands involved to perchase a copy then this could really 1 - benifit the victims as much as possible and 2 - do some chart damage and raise the profile of both round records and the bands involved!

This looks and,I expect,sounds brilliant-looking forward to hearing/buying it.....
Just out of interest tho, does anyone have any idea how many tracks were recorded at this session?I'm presuming it was done around the time of Ginger's gigs in the States?I've always really liked Mike Clink's production,he seems to be fairly keen on getting a pretty natural and not over-produced sound.............would love to hear a batch of these tunes if there were more than this one put to tape.......blah,blah,blah-enough.....

Do the music press and local news in the North East know about this?

There's just the 1 tune. If you go over to Butler's "Rock & Roll Geek Show" site, there's podcasts talking about the recording, etc.

Got mine! Does everyone else notice there's a small gap in the audio in "This Is All That I Wanted" by Moi at about 2 min 13 sec? I downloaded the zip and the mp3 and both have the glitch.

Yeah, there's a little blip there. Doesn't really detract from it though, I think it's brilliant how quickly they have got this together and how good the selection of tracks is. Obviously I'm a bit biased but coming from the viewpoint of a Wildhearts fan this is brilliant. Listening to it again now. It's a like a pick n' mix of stuff you know, stuff you don't and stuff you should. Lovely job, worth at least £5 of anyone's money.
