Spotting A Comparison

Postby Piedude » 11th Nov 09, 22:05

Devin Townsend said his next album was influenced by the Wildhearts... does this opening verse sound Vanilla Radio to anyone else?

Really like the song though...

that is one of the best songs off Addicted but, my lord, the first verse sounds uncannily similar to Vannila Radio

One of the tracks was called Wild Hearts at one point before getting the title changed

Even the vocal melody of "turn the world arround" to "turn the radio down" and "all of this surrounds" to "all of the kids will allow" are almost the same :?

Ok so this is too close for coincidence considering the ginger - devin connection but hey, if anyone can do it dev is the man for the job. I cant wait to buy Addicted in two weeks its between that an Chutzpah! for albums of the year for me anyway.
Interviewer - "So whats the secret of your longevity?"
Ginger - "Splitting up!"

"Bernard, its hot in the worm."

The intro, verse, riff fills and even the ascending bit bridging to the chorus all sound like VR! They're pals though so that's fine.

The only similarity I can hear is that the drumming style is similar to Rich. Cannot hear Vanilla Radio at all.

It's clear that it sounds like VR and I know Ginger's heard the album... cos he said over twitter about how good it was.

It says in the album sleeve notes Resolve is directly influenced by Wildhearts. There we go.

Oh yeah, I see what you mean now. Certainly an influence there, but it's all good.
