Mazel Tov Cocktail

Postby VladDracii » 30th Oct 09, 16:12

Didn't wanna bump the ol' 'wildhearts soundalikes' section...

This might be just me, and I'm fully prepared to accept it is..

...but does *anyone* else thing that pre-chorus part in Mazel Tov Cocktail, ie

"Grey skies fight and the sun dies shining
Then the telephone rings with a silver lining "

Is reminicant of Kid Rock's' Cowboy', ie

"Cowboy baby, With the top let back and the sunshine shining
Cowboy baby, West coast chillin with the Boone's Wine"

Fair enough, it isn't uncanny, and very different feeling attached, but structurally I hear it every time

You see, this is why I keep most comments at bay on this forum, cause people seem very made up on certain things.

Perhaps this should be a cloakroom topic, but Kid Rock is responsible for some awful records and some fucking GREAT ones

I can hear the similarity to be honest.

Obviously the Wildhearts version has a lot more of a tune about it but i quite like some of Kid Rocks stuff as well.

oh yes, they're fucking epic!!! i've seen dan and jason's newer bands (Paint it Black, and None More Black) play live in the last year and they're ALMOST as awesome as the legendary KD were!

I get the Faces every time I hear that little guitar lick...very Ronnie Wood. However, I can't help thinking it's the best song that Bryan Adams has ever had in his head, but never got round to writing.

As I've said somewhere else, the riff and groove remind me of Aerosmith's tremendous Chip Away The Stone.

I know what you're saying, even though I love Molotov Cocktail but not Bryan Adams. Kerrang mentioned Def Leppard, another band I don't like but again I can see the similarities. I also got AC/DC, who I prefer but I'm far from their biggest fan. Then I realised they all have Mutt Lange in common, so maybe that's who it really sounds like. Still, considering those comparisons, and the greatness of the song, surely it makes sense as a summer single?
