My experince was not that it was painful getting one done there, but it *did* swell up afterwards (I have a picture of that which I'm not going to scare anyone with).
Spine, shoulder blade and wrist were all fine, the only one I've had difficulties with was on the top of my foot, cos it swelled up to the point where it was a couple of days before I could do my boot up. Not particularly clever when you're attending a festival the next day :oops:
I have to disagree about whether there's any swelling being down to the skill of the tattooist, though.
