¡Chutzpah! Jnr

At last the news you’ve all been waiting for!
From today ¡Chutzpah! Jnr, previously only available from the Xmess gigs, will be available from our webstore.
The mini-album, recorded during the same sessions as ¡Chutzpah!, features the following tracklist:
• Chutzpah! Jnr.
• The Snake, The Lion, The Monkey And The Spider
• All That Zen
• Vernix
• Under The Waves
• Some Days Just Fucking Suck
• People Who Died
• Zeen Requiem
The CD will cost £10 and there’ll be plenty of stock to satisfy the demand from those who weren’t able to attend the Xmess shows.
We apologise but, due to a rights issue with Vinyl Junkie, we are unable to ship this item to our Japanese fans – or indeed Asia at all. Sorry.
In related news, we’ll shortly be releasing a limited edition coloured vinyl of the ¡Chutzpah! album. No release details as yet, but we’ll keep you informed!

Luckily I had a copy bought for me, but glad to see it made to everyone. But gotta feel sorry for the people who bought it off ebay for silly amounts.

Once again the Wildhearts have managed to con fans into handing over money through the useful fear of “limited editions”, “Japanese versions”, and “..we are now down to single figures in stock so buy now!” tactics.

Wow, John… take a deep breath there.
The people who bought them at shows for themselves did so because they wanted a copy. The people who bought them at shows for other people did so on behalf of people that wanted to get a copy, and so would probably have bought one online had it been available, but couldn’t make it to a show. As far as I’m aware neither of these sets of people paid over the odds for a copy.
A few copies went on eBay for over-the-top amounts, granted, but it seemed strange to me that people that were sufficiently hardcore fans to want to pay that much hadn’t done a little bit of research and found that they could just go to the board and ask someone to get one for them.
And the “once again” bit kind of implies that you think The Wildhearts regularly rip off their fans… is that the case?
I’m sure it’s not too uncynical of me to assume that this decision was nothing more than demand-driven, and fair play to them for doing it.

Well said,Damian……I’m starting to think that there are some people who want nothing more than to whine and complain about something and don’t stop to think that maybe time changes peoples minds?Also,maybe these decisions are down to more than just the band?(record companies are much more likely to pull these kind of stunts than bands,in my experience).
I’ve always found the wildhearts to be more than generous with their time,their songs and their own money(I know it was SG5-but do I not remember certain members of that band putting their own money into those firework and flashbomb crazy gigs?)
The Wildhearts have been bending over backwards for us for years-I,for one,am grateful for that……(and don’t think this is blind loyalty,as I’d be more than happy to call them on it if I honestly thought they didn’t give a shit….I just do,that’s all).

I like both albums, but so far there is Chutzpah! (10 tracks), Chutzpah Japan (14 tracks) and now Chutzpah! Jnr (8 tracks) I don’t understand why they were split up in the first place, and will they release it as a 18 album that it should have been in the first place? What the track order would have been, only curious so I can put the full album on my mp3 player and enjoy it in its entirety

@ phil_on_guitar: Chutzpah! is the album that it should have been in the first place. There were never any plans to release an 18 track album – it was always an album, plus a handful of other tracks for possible B-sides/other uses.
Chutzpah! Japan is just that – a version of Chutzpah! released in Japan by the Japanese record company with a few extra tracks to hopefully persuade Japanese music fans to buy CDs produced in Japan (and support Japanese businesses) rather than importing the UK version. It’s the same way it’s always been from the very first WH album. Remember, the Japanese fans don’t get singles, so there are no B-sides released over there – they get a few bonus tracks and the odd special B-sides EP. They’re still missing most of the Gut era B-sides, and loads of the EastWest ones (unless they happen to own ‘Moodswings & Roundabouts’, and even then…)
And long albums aren’t always a great idea. cf. 21st Century Breakdown.

the only people ripping off wildhearts fans are the wildhearts fans who pick up the cd for £10 and sell it on e bay for £30+. i asked if anybody could pick up a copy for me and got it for £10+p+p whick came to about £11.50. i sent a round £15 and told the girl to have a drink on me-thats what being a REAL wildhearts fan is all about making a profit shouldnt even come in to it!!

ok, comments taken on board. lets say that the Wildhearts have been in full possession in knowing that different versions of Chutzpah! will be released. It would have been nice if they stated this from the start, that way fans can then make choices on which versions they would prefer to purchase instead of buying one copy, then finding out there’s extra tunes on another copy, and then finally another copy with more tunes!!

There’s not really different versions of Chutzpah to be fair, granted there’s the japan release and the uk/euro one, but for anyone that brought the japan version with the extra tracks on, im sure they all knew that those extra tracks would be released sometime in the future here, im sure in fact that was stated by Ginger himself. Chutzpah Jr is a totally different album from the uk release, all new songs! so i don’t get what your saying John..sorry

@ Paul: I’ve just added it successfully in IE8, FF3.5, Chrome, Safari and Opera, so there doesn’t appear to be a problem with the site.

Excellent news. I’ll be ordering mine on Friday when my wages go in. I heard a snippet of Chutzpah Jr on the HMV Japan website and I have to say it’s fugging awesome.

so i take it quite a lot of die hard wildhearts fans are not die hard fans if they complain about what songs are where and on what,i do agree that ebay was a con, but like other people have said, go to the gigs or if you can’t make it ask someone, i think it’s great that there are so many different versions cuse when you collect everything the band releases you have a very cool and proud collection of your favourite band when {way down the line} they eventually dissolve

I live in the usa, last night i tried 4 times to order the 2 cd’s ( 1.Chutzpah & 2.Chutzpah Jr.) from your web store ( Backstreet Intrl Merch.). At the end of placeing my order with a credit card i so that it said something like ” card not valid “. Or something like that i just had used that same card that same day with no problems. So three trys later ( late @ night ) i gave up until the morning. I found out that your US office was in N.Y.C. ( Same place i came to see the mighty WILDHEARTS when they came over to America. The people @ backstreet inter merch. said to try there site ( backstreetmerch.com ) and it would work (plus they were in stock & would ship from N.Y. . Guess what still no fuckin’ luck !!!!! Please tell me how or where to get my last two christmas gifts of 2009. I AM BEGGING FOR HELPPPPPP. PS – Ginger & the Boys still kick 99.9% of all bands on Earth. Tried to order Chutzpah Jnr only to find out that I cannot complete the checkout and pay for it because my debit card is a Maestro card and there is no option to select that type of card.
Please advise before I have to resort – after all this progress – to being scalped on eBay!!!

Ordered my Chutzpah Jnr start of last week, but when checking out the screen stalled at “processing order” and didn’t get any further after leaving it for half an hour. I haven’t had a confirmation email but the money has been taken off my credit card… should I have a confirmation email?

I should have an answer on when Maestro cards will be accepted again later today. Maestro have recently changed their security system which has caused some issues so that card has been removed as an accepted form of payment whilst these are resolved. hi chris.just like neil and brian,i too orderd chutzpah jr cd,and have still not recieved it yet.i ordered it the day it became avaliable,and money came out of my bank account on the 19th of january.when i ordered it the screen froze,and thinking it did’nt work i phoned bacstreet merch the next day and they told me that they would sort it out however i am still waiting for the cd.i also phoned yesterday and got no answer.so could you please try to sort this out for me,as i am dying to hear this cd.you said anyone having problems should send you their addresses,so here’s mine.
