Just Woke Up

By Scott | November 20, 2009

Been sitting in my own head today thinking about the last couple months. It’s been a pretty fucking odd time if I do say so myself. Then again, this time of year always holds something I never saw coming. Spent 2 months with 2 different bands on the road in 3 different countries. Toured in a bus playing to sold out crowds. Toured in a van playing to 20 people. Lost friends and Heroes. Fell out with people I thought I would never fall out with. Made new friends that made me wonder where they’ve been all my life.  Found my new favorite Thai joint in London and my new favorite cocktail in Japan. Saw how much my 2 year old changes and matures in such a short span of time. Accepted the fact that “I” am the pipe bomb in my life. It’s fucking crazy. I did what you suggested Mr. Thompson. Bought the ticket, took the ride. It’s been one hell of a trip and I can honestly say I can’t wait to see where the train stops. It’s fucking crazy, but I must say…I LOVE MY LIFE!….Scott

Comparisons are irrelevant. The Wildhearts have had three awesome bassists. That is all.

Life sure is one hell of a trip – and I want to thank you Scott and all members of The Wildhearts past and present for providing the soundtrack to the last 18 years of my trip and hopefully many more years to come. Cheers!

The van and 20 people was probably Trillians in Newcastle. Piss poor turn out but a fantastic night all round. Scott made sure he had time to chat even when we got more and more pissed towards the end.

Unfortunatley there’ll only be 19 there next time coz my sister got barred that nite hahahaha

When I think back to the gig at the Leeds Cockpit on the Chutzpah tour(I know,I know-I’ll stop going on about it when the memory fades,I promise…),I’ll always remember the look of complete JOY on yer face,Scott,as you sang The Only One to a mad crowd who were singing every word back at you.Even tho,as you said at the end,”You broke my gear”,it was great to see someone so fucking happy. Also, you should know that the look on Ginger’s face was just as special-he looked proud and chuffed. Was so cool to see.
Also,I wanna say thanx anyway;I bumped into you all in a guitar shop in Halifax a few weeks before the gig and was still convinced that I wasn’t gonna be able to go(had a chronic illness for years that outlawed going to gigs as heat, loud noise and lack of oxygen always made me start having fits),but you,Ginger and C.J were so chatty, friendly and helpful,Ginger even saying that I could stand with the soundman or at stage-side if it would help, that I finally bit the bullet and went to the 1st gig I’ve dared go to in years…..and didn’t get ill.Gone to loads again since then and it had a lot to do with you lot and how off-handidly encouraging you all were…Thanx.
The Wildhearts really feel like a brand new band in a lot of ways,a lot of that’s down to you.You should be proud.
